Our team is dedicated to providing a high level of care by helping individuals achieve improved hearing. We see adults of all ages at our hearing center and work with older children as well. What to Expect at
Your First Appointment
When you visit us, you will be greeted by Londa, our Office Manager. She will guide you through any paperwork while you wait for the audiologist.
2. We will perform an ear exam to look at the inside of your ears. We want to ensure your ear canal and eardrum look healthy before we begin the hearing exam.
3. After we’ve looked at your ears then we will begin the hearing test. We will assess how well you can hear sounds in noise and quiet, as well as test your speech comprehension.
4. We will go over the results of your hearing test (audiogram) with you and answer any questions.
5. If you would be a candidate for hearing aids, we will discuss your options and recommend a device.

"Excellent people to work with. I have a new set and couldn’t be happier"

"I've worn hearing aids for three years now. About a year ago I had to start wearing glasses, too. At my yearly check up with Therese, I asked about the hearing aids that fit in your ear. Therese said she wouldn't recommend them for my particular hearing loss at that time. Recently at my yearly check up, we again discussed the hearing aids that fit in the ear canal. Therese explained that improvements had been made and if they were comfortable for me, she thought I would like them. She suggested that I think about it and if I wanted to try them, call her. Well, I called her, made an appointment, and decided to try them for six weeks (at no cost). I've been wearing them for a little over a week and so far so good. As of now I plan to keep these aids; but if for some reason I decide that I don't like them, I'll return them and go back to my old aids. I truly appreciate how Therese listens to my concerns or ideas , and then explains why or why not they're valid. Therese is very knowledgeable, polite and kind. Her staff members are also very polite, kind and helpful. I would highly recommend AOD Hearing Aid Center and Dr. Therese Kistenfeger."

"Therese' is a true audiologist, rather than a technician. Therese' takes a personal interest in my hearing situation and is readily available for follow-up appointments and dialogue. I avoided hearing aids for several years, and chose to get them after seeing how well a friend was doing with his. He referred me to AOD Hearing aids. I have since referred friends and acquaintances to Teresa. For the Decatur area, AOD is the best choice, in my opinion!"

"I am still absolutely loving my hearing aids! AOD is a hidden gem in the Mt. Zion area. Teresa holds a Doctorate in Audiology—the highest level of education in her field, which truly shows in the expert care she provides. If you’re looking for hearing aids and want the very best, look no further. You’ll be more than pleased, and that’s just the beginning. The aftercare and ongoing support are truly unmatched. The office is beautiful and impeccably clean, and the staff is amazing, friendly, knowledgeable, and dedicated to supporting all your hearing needs. Make an appointment and see for yourself."

"I have been working with Theresé for about six years now. Here is the thing everyone needs to know: you get new hearing aids and they don't sound like you want them sound, just call, schedule an appointment and she will fix them to the absolute best of her ability (and her ability is excellent). She never complains when I come in (and I can be persistent about getting my aids fine tuned to my ears) and always, always a smile and laughter. I will never understand why people choose a joint like those companies that send you unsolicited flyers in the mail (okay, I understand price can be an issue for some). But honestly, Theresé is the most capable, most understanding audiologist I have encountered. I will admit this: I will not be alive when she retires, and for that I am thankful. Because these is no one I would ever deal with other than Theresé, her staff and AOD. Seriously."
